Is it next to the transfer case? I don’t really rely on it, but it is always - and sometimes hilariously - inaccurate.

Photo below is from above Ouray, temp was probably closer to 60.

I believe it is in front of the radiator.

Looks like a calibration error. Is it possible to relocate it to a place where ambient heat is not a factor?

I think it uses the inlet air temp. If you are moving slowly it is pulling air in off the radiator air stream, once you move faster it will drop down to actual temp.

It's right beside the upper Johnson Rod, just next to the driver's side Thingamabob. And if you find the Whatchacallit, you've gone too far. :like:

Last week after setting in the sun all day mine read 110 on a 94 degree day, after starting and driving the truck it came down to ambient. Just heat through the hood, if it's setting in the sun all day lay your hand on the hood it's not cool to the touch.

Mine is almost always right on. It may be off when sitting but after a minute or two you can see it settle down. It's usually within a couple of degrees of what my phone says the temp is in our area, or matches what my wife's GC says it is.
In older GM vehicles the sensor was indeed up front to catch the incoming air stream. Haven't yet looked for it on this vehicle.

After sitting the in the parking lot all day in the sun, mine will sometimes show <100ded. It comes down after a couple minutes of driving. My JK did the same thing.

Mine seems to be WAY off quite a bit. This effects the remote start. The factory remote start only turns on the window defroster when the outside temperature is below 40 degrees. Several times it‘s been in the teens and the outside temperature in the truck says it’s above 50!! So the inside of the truck is still ice cold!! Kind of defeats the purpose!!
