Stats! (3.0 Diesel)

Camper: 2017 Rpod 179, 3350lbs on the scale.

Miles: 2370
DEF used: 5.3gal
MPG: 15.6mpg
Regen count: Zero for this trip.

35” tires, 2” Mopar lift, stock tune.

Denver CO, Durango CO, Page AZ, Sedona AZ, Taos NM, and a ton more stops.

Overall I would say the 3.0 did great!!!

MPG was a bit lower than I expected, and DEF use was really high….

Have you had DEF use like this before?

But there were bad headwinds for much of the trip FYI.

No risky temps Oil 248 at its max…

That seems like a lot of DEF. I'm using about 1 1/4 gallon per 1K mile.

Love the pictures.

Pretty sure it's fairly normal for DEF usage to go up when pulling a trailer (assuming you were pulling the camper in your first pic)

My DEF use was high also when pulling an enclosed trailer. But I had a recall performed on the DEF system and haven't pulled the trailer since, so I don't know if any changes will occur. However, without the trailer I haven't used any DEF so to speak of.

Looked like a blast! Not surprised with the amount of DEF you burned considering you were towing. I‘m actually surprised it wasn’t more. My brother-in-law and father-in-law have GMC Sierra HD and Chevy 2500 trucks, both with diesels. They burned a tad more than that diesel towing boast just down to the FL Keys from Tampa, FL.

It looks like it was a good trip! The DEF use seems a little high compared to what I get but I don't tow a trailer. For comparison, I've taken two trips this year. One was a 2,600 mile trip and one was 3,400 mile trip. On both trips, I burned through 2.5 to 3.5 gallons of DEF

Yeah after talking to some folks the DEF use being high is a direct result of the lower MPG. It's normal. FYI this is post DEF software recall.

The jeep trail in Sedona, AZ was an easy one, but it was really fun being out in the desert.

Nice pics!

I was averaging 800 miles per DEF gallon without towing before the recall and as much as 300 miles per gallon in your neck of the woods a few years back towing a 17' RV.
