I know I’ve heard you can go 7,500 miles before first oil change but I strongly disagree, I changed mine tonight at 4,000 miles and it definitely looked as though it was time, I’d be afraid of going longer than that tbh and I don’t even drive my truck hard, I baby it.

Why do you disagree? What experience? Based on? I'm curious.
Looked as though it was time? If I went by that I'd be going way over 10 on some of my stuff and under 2 on others.
Because pretty much every single drive I do is long enough to heat things up and remove moisture from the crankcase, and it's not a lot of stop and go, I let the first oil change go for several thousand.
(actually these engines do better if you wind them up now and then and not baby them.)

Wow, you "strongly disagree" and the oil "looked" bad.

Sounds as compelling as any scientific test.

C'mon man.

Ya gotta know how rediculous this is right ? Your just screwing around right ?

If you're trolling than kudos. I'm a few beers in and ya got me.

If your serious then, well ...

JET_83, you change your oil whenever you feel it is time, it's your rig. You can always express your opinion, just be ready to get your ⚽?? -? for strongly expressing it! ?

Aren't some oils just naturally darker than others?
And isn't it supposed to be thin? I mean it is 0W-20 after all.
Thick, globby, or chunky oil = problem.

This seems about as effective as a butt dyno on engine mods.

EDIT: SON OF A B!TC# I commented on another oil thread. Damnit damnit damnit damnit damnit.

First off, I'm an old guy with arthritis and it's cold outside... I know excuses, excuses. I take it in for oil changes. I had the first oil change done at 5k. Probably will do it every 5k. I'm not so much worried about "waste of money". I'm not old school enough to insist on every 3k changes. I'm sure the new synthetic oils are great and can last 10k but I'm more worried about the filter gathering so much crap and loosing it's effectiveness. Everyone just needs to do what they think is right and not worry about what others do.

lol, I guess some people don’t care if their engine starts to use more oil than designed and having to add to all because of neglect.

I am old school. I have done 10 oil changes and have roughly 36K miles. That thin oil for gas mileage scares me, so, I want to make sure it is still within spec. lol... At 3500 miles, it still comes out like water and black. lol.... The good news is that my truck does not burn any oil at all. I use 0-20w Platinum Pennzoil and the Mopar oil filter.

I use the same bud, change mine every 4,000 is what I’ve always done regardless, but for people that decide to go 10,000 per oil change there’s a very good chance there’s will start using way more oil than designed, oil isn’t that expensive to save a motor.
