Willys ecodiesel payload capacity and towing capacity?

Anyone happen to have a willys ecoD and able to tell me the payload capacity and towing capacity ???

Jeep’s website said my gas Willys payload is 1700 pounds. On another thread they said look at your rating sticker on the driver side door jamb. I was shocked to see my truck’s payload is 961 pounds.

Assuming that the Diesel engine is heavier and there are no modifications to the diesel model’s suspension, why is my Willys gasser’s payload so much less?

It doesn’t make sense to me either. Maybe the heavier springs on the diesel from the factory?

It all depends on what you got optioned on the truck. Hard top vs. soft top, etc.

the only other differences are you have trail rail, engine block heater and LED headlights. Maybe my halogens weigh 150 pounds more.

It’s got to be the springs then right? I’m certain the diesel springs are different from the factory. If so, take-offs usually got for very cheap.

diesels have stronger springs AND higher GVWR, hence more payload.
