Just about ready to pull the trigger on a used Nice gladiator with all the bells and whistles... it does not have a rubicon sticker on the side of the hood. makes me think it is a souped up overland. How to tell?
Rubicon phony vented hood, embroidered seats, locker/swaybar switches, dual red rear tow hooks, red dash inlay, highline fenders, Rubicon shocks.

Indeed, I've yet to hear of a rubi owner stripping off their badge . Myself included. Interested to see if someone did that.
I’m not a fan of stickers and removed all of them from my Rubicon upon delivery. I also didn’t like the red-edged emblems and removed them. Since the tailgate left holes, I installed an all black emblem from one of the other trims. It’s not important to me for others to know it’s a Rubicon and I like the cleaner look.

I’ve seen many Rubicons with the hood labels removed. Many have a personalized logo or such. When selling they probably remove their personal touch.

Mine has “Rubicon” stitched on the seats. The most obvious clue is look at the buttons on the bottom of the center console. (Not the aux buttons if they have them, but the ones on the left). You can also search the vin and build sheet. Some people remove the stickers. Some people think it’s cool do de-badge part or all of the stickers or badges. I think it stupid unless you drive a sport lol.

Oh I like that 'Retirement Edition' but really I agree with just checking the VIN, that's like the
'birth certificate' of motor vehicles. And to comment on another member, actually my son
did remove the RUBICON decal from the hood of his JKU back in '09, preferred solid black,
to each his/her own.

What you have there would be known as a Q-ship
back in the day.

In WWII, the British converted merchant ships
into heavily armed fighting ships
with the weaponry concealed
so as to sneak up on unsuspecting enemy vessels.
The stealthy craft were referred to as Q-ships.

Some American hot rodders
do their best to conceal performance modifications.
Thus winning a lot of money from squids with slapper bars and slicks.
Those stealthy cars are referred to as Q-ships.

I went the other direction.
My cousin bought a 2016 Rubicon Hard Rock.
Just to rib him a little
I painted the front tow hooks on my '98 Sahara TJ
Duplicolor Chrysler Flame Red.

In 1998, the Sahara was the top of the line
in Wrangler off-road features and capability
and there would be no Rubicon until 2003.
So I didn't feel too bad about doing it
but now it is Rubicon appropriation.

Jeep Gladiator is it a rubicon without the rubicon sticker across the hood? yGuSHAeUk1pcO8Uekn2MTbwpr6Enx44NoYh7-dh5GwvV=w2400

I also replaced a bent tie rod with one from Rough Country
and painted it red, which is Steinjager appropriation.

Am I a poseur? Guilty as charged.
